Britney Spears - Blackout

I’m going to level with you right away. No part of me wanted to like Britney Spears’ new album Blackout. Furthermore, I don’t even listen to this sort of pop/dance stuff. So I was fully prepared to dismiss the album and be glad I didn’t have to post an entry about it. But after listening to the album, I have to say that I rather enjoyed myself. It is filled with oversexed, overconfident lyrics and repetitive dance beats. Yet there is a naughty edge to it that’s catchy without being too disgusting, and if you can forget about all the Britney Spears tabloid stuff, it is a fairly good collection of club-ready tracks. Take a listen and tell me that you’re not at least a little surprised, perhaps even pleased.
