NEW IN THEATERS: The new kid in school (Anton Yelchin) hits upon a unique way to make friends: He becomes a classroom psychologist dispensing advice to the student body. Now, if only he can honor his own counsel.

Witless Protection (Larry the Cable Guy, Ivana Milicevic)

NEW IN THEATERS: A small-town sheriff (Larry the Cable guy) is just doing his job when he stops what he thinks is two men kidnapping a woman (Ivana Milicevic). However, the “kidnappers” claim to be FBI agents who are only escorting their charge to a major trial in Chicago, so the sheriff lets them go. Later on, the lawman discovers that the agents are actually dirty and really are trying to kill the witness.

Be Kind Rewind (Jack Black, Mos Def, Danny Glover)

NEW IN THEATERS: Jerry (Jack Black) has an unusual problem: his brain becomes magnetized, which wipes out the entire stock of his friend Mike’s (Mos Def) video store. With all the tapes blank, Jerry and Mike set out to recreate every film ever made to make sure the store’s most loyal customer, an elderly woman, keeps coming back to rent something.

Vantage Point (Dennis Quaid, Matthew Fox, Forest Whitaker)

NEW IN THEATERS: When President Ashton (William Hurt) is assassinated while making a speech in Spain, it’s up to two Secret Service agents (Dennis Quaid, Matthew Fox) to find the culprit. Even though dozens of cameras on-scene, including one held by an American tourist (Forest Whitaker) and ones managed by a TV news producer (Sigourney Weaver), the truth of what happened isn’t evidently clear.

Anna Nalick - Shine (Single)

NEW IN MUSIC: “Shine” is the new song from Anna Nalick from her forthcoming Summer 2008 album. Nalick is probably best known for her break-through single “Breathe (2 AM)” from her 2006 debut album Wreck Of The Day. Be sure to check out the music video for “Shine” at the bottom of the post.

Nick Lowe - Jesus Of Cool (30th Anniversay Reissue)

NEW IN MUSIC: 2008 marks the 30th anniversary of Nick Lowe’s seminal 1978 album Jesus of Cool. Bell X1 - Flock

NEW IN MUSIC: In Ireland, a country churning out hit makers like so much Guinness, Bell X1 are at the forefront of the frenzy. Called ‘The best band in Ireland’ by Vanity Fair magazine, the quintet of rockers has seen four songs simultaneously chart in the Irish Top 20 and the album, Flock, has since gone 5-times platinum. The band is now bringing their sound stateside with the US release of Flock on Yep Roc Records.

Carla Bruni - No Promises

NEW IN MUSIC: Italian-born/French-raised chanteuse Bruni has written a poignant record establishing her as an undeniably gorgeous new voice to American ears. With two previous records, heralded in her home of Europe, Bruni’s current creation is her first English language album to hit US shores via Downtown records. Carla’s fascination and appreciation of the language prompted her to make an album comprised of her favorite poems (from Emily Dickinson to WH Auden to William Butler Yeats), interpreting them into delicate and introspective songs. Chris Cagle - My Life’s A Country Song

Allison Moorer - Mockingbird

Ray Davies - Working Man’s Cafe

NEW IN MUSIC: Working Man’s Cafe, a new studio album by legendary musician and Rock n Roll Hall of Fame member Ray Davies (founder, singer, songwriter of The Kinks), features 12 new songs written by Davies, and co-produced with Grammy Award winning producer/engineer Ray Kennedy (Lucinda Williams, Steve Earle). Recorded in Nashville, Working Man’s Cafe is Davies second solo album, following his solo debut Other People’s Lives, released in 2006.

DVD: Lust, Caution (Ang Lee)

NEW ON DVD: The new film from Ang Lee, the Academy Award-winning director of “Brokeback Mountain” and “Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon.” A startling erotic espionage thriller about the fate of an ordinary woman’s heart, it is based on the short story by revered Chinese author Eileen Chang, and stars Asian cinema icon Tony Leung opposite screen newcomer Tang Wei.

DVD: Michael Clayton (George Clooney, Tom Wilkinson)

NEW ON DVD: Attorney Michael Clayton is a “fixer”, the go-to guy when his powerful New York law firm wants a mess swept under the rug. But now he’s handed a crisis even he may not be able to fix. The firm’s top litigator in a $3-billion case has gone from advocate to whistle-blower. George Clooney portrays Michael, backed into a career corner that offers little room to fight free in this suspense- and star-packed thriller written and directed by Tony Gilroy (writer/co-writer of the Bourne movie trilogy).
