Barack Obama Setlist
January 31, 2008
*CULTURAL COMMENTARY: By Erica. I am a big Barack Obama fan. A huge supporter. I can’t help it - the dude’s got me. I watch his speeches as often as they are on the network cable news. I spend hours on BarackObama.com and YouTube watching them. After he is done speaking, I sit there, breathless with ecstasy. I want the feeling to last and last. I have found that the best way to make this happen is to indulge in Obama’s setlist.

Why I Am Keeping My Amazon Kindle

Many of you may have read my previous article (link to article) Why I Am Returning my Kindle. In that article, I expressed my dismay at the seemingly limited access offered by Sprint’s Whispernet service, the data service that allows for instant downloads of books, magazines, blogs, and newspapers to the Amazon Kindle. Needless to say, after pouring my considerable literary talents into that (quite lengthy) ode to my frustration, the Whispernet service magically began to work!
I am keeping my Kindle!
The Kindle is, indeed, a jazzy little device. It is true that I am a person uniquely capable of finding herself under the thrall of new technology, and that might, at this time be the Kindle’s chief attraction. Who needs to be able to download the latest bestseller in less than a minute? Well, me, if it is possible!

Or, Its A Great Device If You Don’t Live On A Continent With A Mountain Range.
By Erica
It was with much delight that I received my Amazon Kindle this Christmas. I am a voracious reader - or at least a voracious buyer of books. Indeed, my book-buying compulsion has led to book-overload. Even with shelves lining my study, living room, bedroom, and even kitchen, I no longer have any space for any more old-fashioned paper books. The solution? It seemed pretty obvious - the Amazon Kindle.
Yeah, I admit it - I’m on Amazon a lot. I also read Newsweek magazine (see article on the Kindle here). It was about a month ago that both of these outlets began hyping the Kindle. At first I was skeptical. I mean, I’m a person surrounded by hundreds of the old-fashioned paper kind, and you’re going to talk to me about ‘the end of the book’?

Those of you with your eye on the cultural landscape will not have failed to notice the newest trend among the teenage set: pregnancy. It all started with the production of Juno, the fun-loving, clever new comedy penned by cool-kid screenwriter Diablo Cody and staring the cute and coolly sarcastic Ellen Page (if you haven’t seen Hard Candy, get ye to a Blockbuster now!).
