Bell X1 - Flock

NEW IN MUSIC: In Ireland, a country churning out hit makers like so much Guinness, Bell X1 are at the forefront of the frenzy. Called ‘The best band in Ireland’ by Vanity Fair magazine, the quintet of rockers has seen four songs simultaneously chart in the Irish Top 20 and the album, Flock, has since gone 5-times platinum. The band is now bringing their sound stateside with the US release of Flock on Yep Roc Records.

Yael Naim’s “New Soul” (Featured In The Macbook Air Commercial)

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: “New Soul”, the song featured in the new Macbook Air commercials, comes from the 2007 sophomore album by the Paris-born and Israel raised singer, songwriter, and musician named Yael Naim. Be sure to check out the music video for “New Soul” at the bottom of the post. You can also see the Macbook Air ad in which “New Soul” is featured.

Kate Walsh - Tim’s House

NEW IN MUSIC: Kate Walsh is a 24 year old singer/songwriter from Brighton, England whose songs are so delicately moving that one can actually hear the proverbial pin drop when she sings. A classically trained pianist who turned to the guitar as a teenager when she began writing songs, Kate cites Joni Mitchell and Tori Amos as major influences. Her sophomore album, Tim’s House, was released in the US today.

The Pierces - Thirteen Tales Of Love And Revenge

I missed The Pierces latest release “Thirteen Tales Of Love And Revenge” the first time around. But thanks to the album’s success as of late, I was able to come across this set of highly original, sexy, and chic tracks. Try it on yourself and see if it fits.

Regina Spektor - Begin To Hope

I saw Regina Spektor’s video for “On The Radio” this morning, and it reminded me of how much I enjoyed her 2006 release, “Begin To Hope”. So I decided to post the video via AOL Music Videos, so that I might spread the joy. If you like the video at all, please check out the rest of her album. You will be very happy that you did!

Jesca Hoop - Kismet

This is the most original album I’ve heard in many moons. Jesca, “was living in her van in Sonoma County when KCRW played her song and launched her career”. That song was “Seed of Wonder”, the second track on this diverse and complicated album. Moving through dreamy imagery with didn’t-you-know charisma, Hoop keeps us guessing. I am reminded of Regina Spektor. This is a great find!

PS. I believe the track “Money” was recently featured on the show “Dirty Sexy Money”.
