Missy Elliott - Ching-A-Ling (Single)

Missy Elliott’s back with a new single called “Ching-A-Ling”. It is featured on the soundtrack to the new movie “Step Up 2: The Streets”, which will be released on February 5th (the movie comes out on the 14th). Lil’ Wayne - The Leak (EP)

With his next album, “Tha Carter III,” not due until February via Cash Money/Universal, rapper Lil Wayne snuck out a five-song digital EP on Christmas day, dubbed “The Leak.” The EP is only available for download.

The first single, “Blow Your Mind”, is one of the highlights on the album. Styles P is a former member of The LOX, a group that was once signed with P. Diddy’s Bad Boy Records.

Beanie Sigel - The Solution

Beanie Sigel’s “The Solution” is his first album to be released since he served a year in prison and was shot in an attempted robbery. In an MTV News Interview he states, “Im a soulful brother, I been through a lot, I’m just giving you my life.”

Wu-Tang returns with “8 Diagrams”, their first studio release since the death of Dirty Ol Bastard. The group members include GZA, RZA, Method Man, Ghostface Killa, Raekwon, U-God, Inspecta Deck and Masta Killa. “The Heart Gently Weeps” features Erykah Badu and is the first song to feature a Beatles sample (see the video at the end of the post). Throughout the tracks, Wyclef keeps surprising us with the music genres, but his message about his experience with immigration is always in focus.

Imani Coppola - The Black & White Album

It seems that Imani Coppola’s song “Raindrops From The Sun” was recently featured on an episode of Grey’s Anatomy. But don’t be deceived by the lightness of that song. Imani Coppola’s music, as heard on her new release “The Black & White Album”, is in your face and all over the place. Her tell-it-like-it-is style compliments the many beats and themes of this album. She’s a talented artist and is definitely worth checking.

Rehab - Sittin’ At A Bar (Single)

Formed in the late ’90s, pioneering mash-ups of scorching rock and searing rap, Rehab released its debut album, Southern Discomfort in 2000, filled with an array of guest stars including Cee-Lo, Goodie Mob and Cody Chestnutt. The album spun off the top 15 modern rock hit “It Don’t Matter” and sold over 140 thousand units. This success enabled the band to kick off a 2 year national tour supporting the Vans Warped Tour and bands like Kottonmouth Kings and Linkin Park.
