Anna Nalick - Shine (Single)

NEW IN MUSIC: Italian-born/French-raised chanteuse Bruni has written a poignant record establishing her as an undeniably gorgeous new voice to American ears. With two previous records, heralded in her home of Europe, Bruni’s current creation is her first English language album to hit US shores via Downtown records. Carla’s fascination and appreciation of the language prompted her to make an album comprised of her favorite poems (from Emily Dickinson to WH Auden to William Butler Yeats), interpreting them into delicate and introspective songs. Lenny Kravitz - It Is Time For A Love Revolution

Sheryl Crow - Detours

NEW IN MUSIC: Sheryl Crow has released her sixth studio album, the politically charged Detours. The album marks the return of producer Bill Bottrell, who previously worked with Crow on her breakthrough debut album Tuesday Night Music Club, which earned the singer three Grammy Awards, and sold more than ten million copies worldwide. “This is the most honest record I’ve ever made. It’s about being forced to wake up,” says Crow.

Jack Johnson - Sleep Through The Static

NEW IN MUSIC: Jack Johnson’s new album Sleep Through The Static has been released. Jack has released 3 solo records (Brushfire Fairytales, On & On and In Between Dreams), and contributed to a number of Soundtracks including Curious George, A Brokedown Melody, Thicker Than Water and September Sessions. These albums have sold over 15 million copies worldwide.

Matt Costa - Unfamiliar Faces

When Matt Costa sat down to write what would become Unfamiliar Faces, the follow-up to his 2005 debut full-length Songs We Sing, the singer/songwriter took his most treasured belongings and put them on a shelf — then stared at them and just let the memories flow. “That way I could see everything that I loved,” he explains (the collection included his favorite books, a giant wooden pipe, and a box of old 45-speed records from the late 1950s). “I let my imagination wander. Regular life isn’t as exciting as an imaginary life.”

Landon Pigg - Falling In Love At A Coffee Shop (Single)

I discovered Landon Pigg’s “Falling In Love At The Coffee Shop” on Billboard’s Bubbling Under The Hot 100 chart. It is featured in a “A Diamond Is Forever” commercial, which you can see at the bottom of the post. I couldn’t find confirmation that this song is from an upcoming album, but it must be as it is not anything he has released to date. See what you think!

Jack Johnson - If I Had Eyes (Single)

Jack Johnson’s “If I Had Eyes” is the first single from his new album “Sleep Through The Static”, set for release on February 5, 2008. The single, and indeed the new album, will feature more electric guitar as opposed to the mostly acoustic work of his previous four albums. Nevertheless, Jack’s voice remains sunny as always.

Damien Rice - Live From Union Chapel

This week Damien Rice released a live album, “Live From Union Chapel”. If you’re not familiar with him, he is an Irish singer-songwriter with exceptional talent and a flare for acoustic brilliance. His critically acclaimed 2003 debut album “O” sold more than 2 million copies worldwide.

Dave Matthews Band - Live At Piedmont Park

This week Dave Matthews Band releases their seventh official live album, “Live At Piedmont”. It was recorded in Atlanta last year. Fans of the band (including myself) will recognize most of the songs, as well as the live treatment given to each. As with their other live releases, there is also a separate DVD of the concert available for purchase.
